AN OVERVIEW OF KIDSMILES

What is KidSMILES?

KidSMILES is a pediatric dental clinic. The mission is to provide
quality dental care and education to children at an affordable cost to
their families.  The clinic will provide a wide variety of dental services  
at a low cost to needy families. 
 
     

The Importance of Good Dental Health

Dental health plays a critical role in the overall health and well being
of a child.  Children with little or no dental care are very susceptible
to getting cavities.  Cavities can lead to much larger problems such
as:  pain, infection, and malnutrition.  Good overall dental health is a                     
critical part of good overall health.  KidSMILES will provide the dental
care that many families simply cannot afford.  

KidSMILES Services

KidSMILES will provide comprehensive care to all patients, but
the main focus will be disease removal and prevention.  We will also
provide education about proper oral hygiene and the importance of
good dental health.

To date, more than 200 members of the dental community have
signed up to volunteer at the KidSMILES clinic.  JOIN  by signing

KidSMILES Board Members

The KidSMILES concept originated out of a desire to give back to
the central Ohio area.  Dr. James Homon, founder of KidSMILES,
grew up in Dublin and graduated from The Ohio State University
Dental School.  Dr. Byron Henry, Dr. Jeff Milton and Dr. Tim
Edwards are local dental professionals (and graduates of OSU)
who serve on the KidSMILES board and have helped define the
clinic's mission.  Julie Homon serves as the Executive Director.

Volunteers

The only way that KidSMILES can become a reality, is with the
help and generosity of the central Ohio dental community.  We
are looking for the following volunteers:
  • Dentists
  • Hygienists
  • Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary (EFDAs)
  • Dental Assistants
  • Dental Lab Technicians
  • Administrative Staff
 $15,600 Raised at October 21st Fundraiser at the Lazy
Chameleon

KidSMILES' first fundraiser was a great success.  More than 165 people
came out to the Lazy Chameleon to enjoy live music, good food and
